 Who Can Apply?

Anyone over the age of 16 and has a legal right to live in the UK, may apply for housing

The Group will not consider applicants who have the financial means to find their own accommodation.

The Group can exclude applicants in accordance with the Suspension Policy. For example, they have been evicted or would have been evicted by a social landlord because of rent arrears or anti-social behaviour.

The Group will not consider applicants who owe the Group or a predecessor of the Group money, they must clear any debt before an offer of accommodation can be made.

People living outside Swansea and Neath Port Talbot may apply, where they have demonstrated a need to live in either area, e.g. to work or to be cared for.

How to apply

If you are looking to rent a home with us we will first need to carry out an assessment which will determine if we can help you with your housing need.
Simply call us on 01792 479200 or visit our office to run through an application with a member of our Housing Services Team.
We will then assess your housing need against our Housing Criteria and determine if any of our products would assist you with that need. Applicants will be informed immediately whether they are eligible for housing.
If you're eligble you will then be able to apply for any available homes on our Housing Register. Depending on your circumstances, we will look at what options are available to you.
A home visit will be made to those offered accommodation and an applicant’s circumstances will be reviewed every three months until they are housed.
For the purposes of assessing your tenancy application and the ongoing management of your tenancy with us, we will share your data with Experian and undertake checks with them. These checks include: assessing the suitability of your application; managing your tenancy; verifying your identity and; undertaking checks to prevent and detect crime, fraud or anti money laundering. We will give details of how you manage your tenancy to Experian and if you do not pay your rent on time we will inform Experian of this. If you fail to make any payments due under this agreement, we will use your data and that from a credit reference agency to trace your whereabouts and recover payment. Experian may also use the details supplied to them in the future to assist other landlords and organisations to:
  • assess and manage any new tenancy agreements you may enter into;
  • assess your financial standing to provide you with suitable products and services;
  • manage any accounts that you may already hold, for example reviewing suitable products or adjusting your current product in light of your current circumstances;
  • contact you in relation to any accounts you may have and recovering debts that you may owe;
  • verify your identity and address to help them make decisions about services they offer; and
  • help prevent crime, fraud and money laundering.

Applicants who are not successful following an assessment may have their assessment checked by another member of the Housing Services Team.
If they remain unhappy with the decision they can speak with the Manager.
*During the application process it would be beneficial if you had your national insurance number and details of your income to hand*
