Coastal has made its second round of financial pledges from its Horizon fund: a £10K fund exclusively available for civic improvement initiatives fundraising through the #CrowdfundSwansea movement.

Coastal awarded its maximum pledge of £1,000 to The Hygiene Bank – one of only 2 projects seeking funding in the autumn round. This pledge follows 2 x £1,000 awards to the urban harvesting project ‘Sweet Pickings’ and the urban planting project ‘Onwards and Uplands’ in the #CrowdfundSwansea spring round earlier this year.

The Hygiene Bank in Swansea collects, sorts and redistributes essential hygiene products to local people pulled into poverty.  Redistribution is carried out by a network of community partners – a mix of organisations, charities and schools. As a new Hygiene Bank in Swansea, it is fundraising to rent a larger storage unit, including facilities such as shelving and stacking boxes, in order to be able to receive larger donations and assist a greater number of people.
